My Wedding Organizer Reviewer's Comments

My Wedding Organizer is more like a professional’s wedding planner program, than any other product we reviewed. With My Wedding Organizer you can synchronize your software with several computers allowing multiple people to add guests or tasks. You can plan multiple weddings and print from just about any screen in the program.

Although My Wedding Organizer is an all around easy–to–use and powerful program we found it didn’t include a specific section for vendors, it was difficult to import your guest list from other applications and the interface seems cluttered and busy.

Features Set:

With My Wedding Organizer you can add guests, track spouses, children, unknown guests and their RSVPs. You can change the invitation from formal to personal and track the accommodations of out of towners. On the guest list page you can easily record which events each guest is invited to, the likelihood of their attendance and the gifts they’ve given. You can import your contacts from a CSV file, but we found it difficult. You have to follow the directions exactly, which includes renaming files and directories.

One of My Wedding Organizer’s most unique features is the ability to plan several weddings at once and synchronize and merge the program with several computers. This enables several people to prepare for the wedding using the same software.

The budget section includes a budget suggestion feature that helps couples divide their cost accordingly. Cost is divided according to average percentages, for example, approx. 35 percent of a couple’s budget is spent on the reception. Therefore, a budget if you of $25,000, according to My Wedding Organizer, about $8600 is suggested for catering the reception. All suggestions can be changed according to your particular needs.

Typically the budget and vendor’s sections work closely together; however, we are disappointed that My Wedding Organizer doesn’t have a separate section for vendors. They simply supply a notes feature in the budget for vendors. Although you can place any information you like in this field, it may not be as organized or printable.

My Wedding Organizer includes an extensive list of more than 100 “to–dos.” All fields are fully editable. The alarms section works like a daily planner and when you start the program it will prompt you on all your appointments for the day. You can transfer tasks from the to–do list to the alarms section, but you cannot transfer alarms to the to–do list.

In the gifts section you can record received gifts and track if you’ve sent thank you notes. Additionally, you can record monetary gifts or list if the item needs to be returned or exchanged. Although My Wedding Organizer does not allow you to create a gift registry, you can record if the gift was located on a registry somewhere.

Although My Wedding Organizer’s seating section works much like the other products we reviewed, using tree tables to assign seats, this program provides icons you can use to indicate special needs like wheel chairs or high chairs.

My Wedding Organizer includes a small library of “worksheets.” Worksheets are checklists for various, random needs that should be addressed when planning a wedding and getting married. Worksheets include a name change list, legal changes list, florist questions, catering questions and more.

Ease of Use:

We found My Wedding Organizer relatively easy–to–use, but there is a bit of a learning curve. The opening screen provides you with a quick glance of many important aspects of your planning process like budget, guests and days remaining.

We found the interface to be organized and easy. Everything is clearly labeled on navigation tabs. However, the program’s introductory screen is a little busy and cluttered.

Ease of Installation/Setup:

We had some problems installing this software because of a compatibility issue with a Microsoft Windows Automatic Updates program. However, this problem was clearly displayed on the company’s website with a link to Microsoft’s page explaining the problem and providing a download patch. After we installed the patch and turned off our updates My Wedding Organizer worked beautifully.

We would suggest all users to have adequate virus, spyware and malware protection before you turn off your Windows Updates.

Help/Support:

My Wedding Organizer provides a few quick start tutorials on the program’s opening page. Additionally, they have a built in user guide that answered many of our questions. However, our email was never answered.

Summary:

Although it takes a few minuets to learn, My Wedding Organizer can greatly assist any bride in her wedding day preparations. Managing guests is easy, and tracking their RSVPs and gifts are conveniently located together. However, we think the addition of a vendor’s section and responsive email support would greatly improve this software.
